| HOLOCAUST WRITING CONTEST WINNERS |
The Holocaust Education Resource Council of Leon County has selected the following students as winners of their 2012 writing contest. Sophia Elzie won 1st place, Mia Pesta 2nd place, and Isabel Knight-Inman 3rd place. Raa won the middle school category. These students will be honored in a reception held at Temple Israel on May 20th.

Extra Yearbooks!
The Herff Jones Representative will be here during lunch on Tuesday, May 22nd to take "Last Chance" yearbook orders before they are distributed on Friday. This is the last opportunity for students to purchase a yearbook and there are only a limited number left! (student will not receive yearbook at time of purchase).
Please send your student with a CHECK made out to Herff Jones in the amount of $ 45.00.
Students may purchase at their regular lunch schedule. They must have a check — NO CASH !

The 8th Grade Administration and Staff have the right to disqualify if Citizenship or GPA does not meet the standards

· 50% refund 59-35 days prior to the trip
· Less than 35 days, NO REFUND

Note: We were able to hold our cost for the trip to the same price as the last two years by offering early registration. This will give more students the opportunity to take this trip of a lifetime at Raa Middle School.

| PARENT VOLUNTEERS | Parent volunteers are needed in the Front Office and Guidance. Please contact Mrs. Blakely at 488-6287 if you would like to help out in the main office, or contact Ms. Smith at 488-7495 if you could cover the phones in Guidance from 1:00-1:30 p.m. once a week.

| PARENT PORTAL |

Parent Portal can be accessed by you and your child to check grades for each class. Login information has been sent home via your child. If you do not have the Login information, please have your child report to the Guidance office to obtain another copy. Parent Portal is user friendly and the best way to stay informed of your child's grades.

| PAYING FEES AND COLLECTING MONIES |

Pay Stations will be set up for students to pay fees and turn in monies collected (classroom fees, fundraisers, trips, etc.) throughout the year twice a week. Please send money in with your child on these days only. Students will be called from class to turn monies in.

| COATS FOR KIDS |
COATS For Kids is looking for gently used or new items such as: coats, sweatshirts, scarves, gloves, hats, pants, long-sleeve shirts, sweaters, closed-toe shoes, socks, underwear and belts. Sizes needed are 4T - Adult. If you have anything to donate, a collection box is in the front office and will be there the remainder of the year.
